A little history…Initially, containers in terminals and ports were handled by gantry, port terminal cranes, as well as heavy-duty forklifts. Subsequently, due to the increased flow and the increase in the carrying capacity of containers, specific machines were required. Up until the mid-1990s, they were the main type of equipment in port container handling operations, but recently they began to be replaced by reach stackers — specialized loaders, initially adapted only for container operations.
Reach stacker is a loader for working with containers. Designed to handle all types of containers, including refrigerated containers. They are capable of handling containers and trailers, as well as performing loading and unloading operations in a wide variety of conditions: from ports to heavy industry.
The main characteristics of the reach stackers are the load capacity, the number of tiers into which containers are stacked, rows, working weight, wheelbase.
Richstackers participate in intermodal operations, as they are able to provide access to two railway tracks (a number of trucks) on one side at once.
It is a large-sized machine capable of handling loads up to 45 tons.
Our company has received richstackers to work at the Dostyk terminal. To confirm the work, multiple load capacity tests were carried out. These reach stackers are distinguished by maneuverability and high speed of container handling. And also, with the help of a variety of attachments, they turn into multifunctional equipment for performing a wide variety of tasks.
